Stricto sensu, arrazoi duzu. Baina "log" hori, batzuetan, logaritmo
nepertarra adierazteko ere erabiltzen da. Hori ez da nik asmatua.

<Zientzia eta teknikarako euskara> liburuan, adibidez, honela ageri da:
"Matematikan eta Fisikan, askotan, "log" hutsa idaztean logaritmo nepertarra
adierazi ohi da".

Eta Wikipedian ere, gauza bera:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><<<<

The most widely used bases for logarithms are 10, the mathematical constant
*e <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_%28mathematical_constant%29>* ≈
2.71828... and 2. When "log" is written without a base (*b* missing from log
*b*), the intent can usually be determined from context:

   - natural logarithm <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_logarithm> (log
   *e <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E_%28mathematical_constant%29>*, ln,
   log, or Ln) in mathematical
analysis<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematical_analysis>,
   statistics <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statistics>,
economics<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economics>and some
   engineering <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engineering> fields. The
   reasons to consider *e* the
*natural*<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_logarithms#Why_it_is_called_.22natural.22>base
for logarithms, though perhaps not obvious, are numerous and
   compelling.
   - common logarithm <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_logarithm>
(log10or simply log; sometimes lg) in various
   engineering <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engineering> fields, especially
for power levels and power ratios, such as acoustical sound
pressure<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_pressure>,
   and in logarithm tables
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematical_table>to be used to
simplify hand calculations.
   - (...)

To avoid confusion, it is best to specify the base if there is any chance of
misinterpretation.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Nik logaritmoak ikasi nituenean, oso garbi bereizten genituen "log"
(hamartarra) eta "ln" (nepertarra), baina bereizketa hori ez da unibertsala,
dirudienez.

Nolanahi ere, Itzuliz Itzulpen Zerbitzutik geroago bidali duten mezuan ageri
den testuinguruan (Log 2,5 = log 25/10= log 25 - log 10 = log 5² -1 = 2 ·
log 5 -1 = 2 · 0,6990 -1 = 1,3980 -1 = 0,3980) garbi dago logaritmo
hamartarra dela.

> Kaixo,
> Alfontso Mujikak hau idatzi du:
> "Logaritmoaren oinarria ez da ageri. Beraz, oso litekeena da "log" horren
> bidez "logaritmo" bakarrik ez, baizik eta "logaritmo nepertar" adierazi
> nahi
> izatea".
>
> Kontua da "log" horretan oinarririk adierazten ez bada, oinarria ez
> dela nepertarra, hamartarra baizik.
> Hain zuzen, oinarria nepertarra balitz "ln" idatzi beharko litzateke
> "log" idatzi ordez.
